From the U.S. Open to the Ryder Cup and the Senior PGA Championship, GolfShotBot is quickly becoming a standout attraction at some of golf’s biggest events.
Developed by RoboBuoy — the marine robotics company behind MarkSetBot — GolfShotBot is transforming waterfront spaces into interactive golf experiences that are visual, engaging and built for today’s event audiences.
What started as part of RoboBuoy’s autonomous aquatic positioning platform has evolved into a versatile activation tool used by tournament organizers, tourism partners and hospitality groups looking to create memorable fan experiences beyond the traditional golf course.
A New Kind of Golf Experience
GolfShotBot is a floating golf target that can be virtually anchored in place or programmed to move on the water. Paired with Zero Ball® biodegradable golf balls from Splash City Golf, the system allows participants to safely hit shots into lakes, rivers, harbors and coastal environments.
The result is a simple but highly engaging experience that works everywhere from luxury hospitality events to public beachfront activations.

“GolfShotBot is proving to be a simple but powerful way to bring golf into new environments,” said Pete Siek, Sales Manager at MarkSetBot. “We’re seeing strong interest from major event organisers who want to create something interactive, visual and shareable.”
Featured at Major Golf Events

2024 U.S. Open – Pinehurst
At the 2024 U.S. Open, the USGA incorporated a custom-branded GolfShotBot activation into a lakeside hospitality event in Pinehurst.
Guests were invited to hit biodegradable golf balls toward a floating target, adding a relaxed and interactive element to the tournament atmosphere while showcasing how waterfront activations can complement premium event experiences.
2025 Ryder Cup – New York City
Ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, the PGA of America used GolfShotBot as part of a promotional media activation featuring team captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald.
From a yacht on the Hudson River, the captains hit biodegradable golf balls toward a floating GolfShotBot target, creating a dramatic visual backdrop used to promote the event across media and social platforms.
The activation demonstrated how the system can adapt to urban waterfronts, media campaigns and high-profile promotional events.
2026 Senior PGA Championship – Florida Gulf Coast
Most recently, GolfShotBot was featured during “Golf Coast Drive,” a beachfront activation held ahead of the 2026 Senior PGA Championship at The Concession Golf Club.
Hosted by the Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at Coquina Beach, the event welcomed the public, youth participants from First Tee and celebrity guests for a fun, family-friendly golf experience directly on the beach.
Participants hit Zero Biodegradable Golf Balls toward branded GolfShotBot targets positioned offshore, creating an engaging and highly visual experience for spectators and participants alike.
Celebrity participants included Jan Stephenson, Trey Burton and Paul Azinger, and organizers plan to continue the activation for at least two more years.

Expanding Golf Into Waterfront Hospitality
As adoption grows, RoboBuoy is expanding GolfShotBot beyond tournament activations and into hospitality, resort and private club environments.
The company sees strong potential for yacht clubs, marinas, waterfront resorts and private yacht owners looking to offer unique guest experiences on the water.
Because the platform is autonomous and modular, operators can create stationary or moving targets depending on the experience they want to deliver.
“This is about extending the game of golf beyond the course,” added Siek. “Whether it’s a tournament activation, a resort experience or something off the back of a yacht, the format is simple, flexible and proven to engage people.”
As golf events continue looking for new ways to connect with fans and create shareable moments, GolfShotBot is showing how technology and creativity can bring the game to entirely new environments.
